Halloween Haiku

The devil trembles
Feeling the autumn wind's rage
Children eat candy

Red mask covers eyes
Blind to first fall carnival
Her pockets picked clean

Nevermore lovers
Halloween murders-blood found
Quote the black raven

Do You Remember When ?

We celebrate this Autumn feast
and do you remember when
the turkey was the main event
of a holiday come again ?

Family came from near and far,
I remember that this was so.
Talk of what this holiday meant,
yet the turkey still stole the show.

Times remembered through a child’s eyes
yet I think it must be the same
where throughout all Thanksgiving days
nothing rivals the turkey’s fame.

I would like to think that you agree
but I cannot speak for you.
Does the turkey hold the honored place,
will your heart to it stay true ?
