Maja, Noah and little Luke
all excited and looking so cute
with Mommy, Daddy and the rest of the clan
we grab the bags and pile into the van.
We leave the house just before dawn
Grandma stays back as we move on
on to the airport we’ve said our goodbyes
it’s just a vacation but I’ll miss these guys.
kids and luggage pile out at the curb
“You’ll have to move your van sir!”is all I heard
but I was in the moment missing them already
being grandpa I smile and keep myself steady
I’m just not ready to part with them yet
I need more time before they board that jet
“Sir you’ll have to move your van now!”
But I want more time with my kids some how.
Still I smile and wave and pull away.
I’ll see them again a week from Sunday
----We miss you guys---
Oh my dear Sister so precious to my heart,
how doeth I ache within to hear your sweet voice once again.
to see your beautiful smile abound upon thy lovely and caring face,
a memory I shall hold always, and will Embrace.
for when Tears shall fill my eyes, then comfort will I take;
knowing you dwell in A Heavenly place.
for in the arms of the Creator God is your Resting place.
For a Dear Angel has he Received, one so wonderful as thee.
that you may place a Kiss upon his cheeks, and a smile on his face.
so until the time when he shall gather us all together Once again.
Know that we love you always and forever. Amen

Hair, the color of ripened wheat,
with the sun shinning upon it.
Eyes, so clear a green,
shot with gold, as to be jewels.
A smile that reaches her eyes
and casts a glow from within.
Five tiny fingers grasp an aged hand,
with the delicacy of fine porcelain.
Two small feet, lively tapping,
in an excited tempo.
A Grandfather walks, stooped,
along beside her, with pride
evident in the smile he affords others.
His hat, a dapper angle,
upon his head of snowy fringe.
His one hand held by hers,
while in his other, a few wrinkled bills,
held aloft as a trophy.
I stop and watch their approach.
I watch as they pass beside me on the path.
As the two, young at heart,
head for the colorful, ice cream truck
parked at the curb.

smile
you walk around all the time looking hurt and sad.
you always seem so angry and mad.
sometimes i wonder if you wonder you realize what you have.
sometimes you try to open locked doors.
you dont have the keys so maybe you should just smile more.
when you smile i smile but yours only lasts a little while.
i need you to smile so i can be strong.
and we can make it through together when life goes wrong.
you brighten my day when you smile up at me
but i guess your to blind to see,
just how much you truly mean to me.
