What does friendship actually mean?
Friend - (Noun): 1. A person who knows, likes, and trusts, someone else.
2. A member of The Society of Friends: Quaker.
But...here is the real life defintion of friendship....
Friend : One who is in complete trust of someone, and would help them no matter the cost. Right
or wrong, and will fight tooth and nail for someone. Someone who will be honest, and tell you
their opinions on different matters, even through love, and hardship, they will never let you
down and will always be there. Someone who will serve as a crutch when you fall, and lift you
back up. Someone who will lend an ear so you can vent your anger, and someone who will not
run from you when you make changes in your life. Someone who will always stand up for you
when you can not, or will not. Some one who will show that they actually care what you do with
your life and will support you no matter what. Those are your true friends. Those are the people
that actually care, and even though the lines may be blurred at times, you will see your true
friends when something dramatic happens in your life. They will always be there!
I look at my mother with tears in her eyes
As she pleads with me to truly understand
Please stop with your vices she persists and demands
I laugh in her face and back out the door once more
I fancy my life I laugh at the rest
Who think toiling and studying is what's best
I have my youth at my side, my beauty is my strength
I do what I want, my life in pleasure must be spent
I look at my mother with tears in her eyes
As she pleads with the doctor to help me stand
She has AIDS he responds, the tests came back
That is why all this strength I so lack
I live my life with ART's now, two years have past
Knowledge I impart to the young at heart
I deeply regret all the chioces I made
But I cannot go back it is far too late
So I talk to the teens and the youth I guide now
And tell them all about the dangers I would vow
I explain all the repercussions of my lack of self control
So stay away from drugs, and only do good and uphold
Stay true to yourself, I tell them enthusiastically
For positivity and abstinance results in HIV negativity
seems like today is june 9, 1992
when the doctor held me out to you
ballons and banner say's its a girl
a beautiful baby born into the world
seem like yesterday i was brought from a dark womb into light
felt like only yesterday i was held day and night
changed and fed
directed and lead
almost 18 years later and i wonder if i can turn around
im lost and haven't been found
stop i can't go back and run
i wake up everyday and this 17 year old girl returns
saying to life that you've reach your first milestone
life have just began and your childhood is somewhat gone
left behind in baby and memory books
hanging on old picture frames from hooks
its that time people expect for you to call on mommy and daddy a little less
its that time for knowing and not a time of guess
Do you know where you're going or not?
You have to answer that question right on the spot
There's no time for figuaring out or saying "i have yet to know"
they're ready to refurnish your room and tell you to go
For the life they prepared you for
For many years and more
Seem like yesterday i was still this child
Seem like yesterday when things didn't seem so wild
Im 17 years old and according to the law im not grown
But guess what Im making serious decisions on my own
Decisions that will affect my life and whats ahead
Decisions that saying im no longer a kid
In 20 days im leagal by law
but in a heart beart i'll get down on my two paws
to expericene the blast of childhood
i think again and i don't think i should
all i work for has shown
in three days im across the stage and gone
waving to my younger sibblings and setting that postive example
