the piano strings that thread
the telephone poles
just outside where i reside
hum a stale tune through the clouded air
exit
a horrid sound
fills black
the evil heart

i fear their poisoned blood
will flood
the terrain
of an already ailing world

and you know
it is the vulnerable who suffer first

every chord in my body distorted
with no knowledge
of who i should address

i fall to my knees
whisper the word
“mercy”

Premium Member Self Centered Diabolical Scarlet O'Hara

Fiddle Dee Dee Scarlet says when asked to nap with the other girls
I want to party she argues, dancing with her feet, her hair in curls
She sneaks down to where the men are and takes Ashley off
Expressing her love which is rebuffed, she hears a man’s cough.

It is that renegade, Rhett Butler, who is a scoundrel and a scamp.
You are no gentleman sir she says, and flounces off in a stamp.
Rhett is immediately smitten, and decides to woo this little pretty.
The Yankees are coming, Civil War is taking a toll on Atlanta’s city.

Belle from the brothel gives money to Melanie for the troops.
Melanie is Ashley's wife; she, takes it with appreciation, no hoops.
Scarlet marries sister’s beau, Mr. Kennedy when she sees he is rich.
Scarlet is truly a conniving, self-centered, diabolical b……

Gone with the Wind has humor and laughter and heartache galore.
I would ask that you read it yourself before I spoil it by telling you more

Self-Centered

“Do you see any leg wound, my friend
I feel some pain, see drops of blood -
the road we passed was stained.” The horse
asked the cat, who detests blood or mud.

“I don’t know,” answered the cat, nestled cozily
in a bag strapped on the horse’s back.
“I didn't feel any discomfort that might have
been caused by your change in stride or slack.”

Premium Member Always Centered On You

Your significance in every chapter of me goes beyond
the wonderful art of a creator or the expectations from a deity.
I feel your fatherly soft palms on my waiting back
like a child in need of a superior support.
Such favour you render is like a broad road
with multiple lanes without any pedestrian crossing.

From my existence as proteins to my current status
there’s no single room for me to boast.
I’ve tried to record the doings of my accord
then I realize, with high-heels, I’m just chasing a ghost.
My lips take extra jobs in supplications to you
but from your praises to your rewards,
it’s an easy crossover of a thin coast.
My burdens are turned to appreciation through thanksgiving
then your hand of power reaches me faster than any post.

You essentially meet my needs in raw flesh
and still prepare them for my enjoyment through a sweet roast.
Despite my frequent unfaithfulness and disobedience
your grace and love on me are constantly making a toast.
How great is your compassion and how enduring your mercies;
your adoration and praises from now on, my soul will host.

Selfish and Self-Centered

Why people are selfish,
why people are stylish,

Why they are on high tower,
Is that because of useless power,

Whenever their mind is gonna be wash,
They usually interrupt and say Gosh!

Dirtiness has stuck on their minds in big chain,
whom high power detergents could also n't strain.

My Centered Truth

These tendered times and varied virtues
Are changing the moral and meaningful issues.
No easy smiles or hellos to be given
To all the ones who need hope to be in them.
We hide and we scheme, we cover our faces
While blocking the people who are in our places.
Self preservation; we hide and we flee.
This is not wrong, nor is it needed to be.
Fore we are the explorers in this journey called life;
Blazing the trail and avoiding the strife.
We are all "lost" and we don't know our way.
We pave our own path, no right answers to say.
Who then can we love? Is it us or is it but them?
I just know I love peace. That is my true answer, within.

Premium Member Be Kind Anyway-Tribute To Mother Theresa

People are often unreasonable
And self-centered
Forgive them any way
If you are kind people may
Accuse you of ulterior motives
Be kind any way
If you are honest people
May cheat you
Be honest anyway
If you find happiness people
May be jealous
Be happy anyway
The good you do today
May be forgotten tomorrow
Do good anyway
Give the world the best you have
And it may never be enough
Give your best anyway
For you see in the end
It is between you and God
It was never between you and them
Mother Theresa of Calcutta
A heart of pure gold
You cared for the unwanted
You gave joy to the unloved
And you stood by the uncared for
Continue to rest in bosom of the lord

Can Be Conceited and Self Centered

should have spent more time
with dear ones that I do love
meant so much to me

can be conceited
is way that they want to be
meets their own purpose

do put pills in drawer
will not spill them anymore
know what they are for

had been deep in doubt
so brought whole bottle out
with glee she did shout

when we start to swing
different tune would always sing
 with me Bible bring

Premium Member Being With a Non Listening Talker

Talking. Talking. Talking. At first it is fun, maybe even entertaining.
You are not sure exactly sure when it turns, but it does.
Suddenly the monopolizer’s ramblings no longer seem charming.
Patience worn thin, you try a few times to interject a word.
There is no pause, no break. Constant talking. Inane talking. Nonsense talking.
You try blatant rudeness. Still no pause.
Suddenly you are annoyed, irritated, angry.
It is the same feeling you get as when you put your turn signal on and watch
Incredulously as six cars and a truck speed up, so you miss your turn off the freeway.
Rudeness personified. Self-centeredness to the inth degree. Magnificently selfish.
I walk away as she obtusely, self-absorbed, is still talking, talking, talking.
She yells after me in a way that indicates that I am the rude one.
I wave, resolving to forevermore avoid this non-listener
like the plaque that she is.

Self Centered Greed

4/24/24

I've played plenty
On my conscious life weighed heavy
I have to stay ready
Then aim steady
Obstacles I will face many
Can't give ground or let them take any
These snakes pesky
Often they petty
Life can get way deadly
One big crazy medley
That sometimes became sketchy
After turning strange and messy

When it all begun
At first it seemed fun
But now I constantly need one
Its like a giant re run
As if it all means none
I just want the deed done
Too much green buds
Turning to weak lungs
Coursing through my veins is beast blood
Surging like an extreme flood
Causing me to eat bugs
Then overdose on these drugs
Because I just need love
I don't care what she does
Still secrets swept under antique rugs

Continual self centered greed
Across the seven seas
It never seems
I have more than I could ever need
I just cant let it be
Even for better means

Militia troops
Involved with religious groups
That have ties to wicked roots
Still tricking youths
How can I believe we all pay the cost for a man picking fruit
Hard to say if they're giving the truth
When there's no living proof
Just some mark or trinket found by a shipping route

It was settling
But people couldn't stop meddling
Now too late for regretting things
The same can be said for back peddling
It's continued developing
I do not look forward to the hell it brings
The ground trembling
Buildings leveling
The noise is deafening
It's as they've described a reckoning
Might as well be my death sentencing
This is menacing
All this wrestling
With what I continue questioning
Life doesn't get easier, I forgot mentioning
Sick of the concept of time, quit threatening
Like my life is on a clock, it's unwelcoming
Why do lives get regarded as second string
Y'all should be ashamed for tarring and feathering
Still you give yourself too much crediting
Quit all your beckoning
You're really just heckling
Slowly disassembling
Yet still a nestling
Playing on uneven ground, hardly ever leveling
Eventually will or won't make sense of things

Premium Member Christ-Centered Character

Compassionate with confident charity’s call
Concerned for clear Christian conversion cause
Committed to Christ’s cross, cleaving to His covenant
Cooperative along congregation’s counseling clamor
Circumspect to correct compromises’ conveniences
Courageous, contending against carnality-challenge
Cheering the cross-carriers, crowned cavaliers of the Creator
Comforting, caring for the chastised, crying for clemency chances
Creating conformity changes from corruption-cursed condemnation
Christ-centered character commending CHRIST!*

Things are changing every day
People, their moods
You, me; us
Constantly
We tend to grapple to find the balance
It's a constant ebb and flow
You find yourself in a sphere of having to run to catch up at times

But sometimes we need to not run
We need to not chase
We need to rest
Find the balance
Because as much as we feel the need to catch up
We also need to be centered
If we're not centered, we will be pulled in all directions
Holding onto things; we should let go
Clinging to people that were part of a chapter and not the whole book

So if you do anything today, remember to catch a breath
Remember to smile
Remember the good
Especially in these times where good and rest seem to be but a memory for most

Premium Member Self Centered Tranquility

Inside of our embryonic bubble,
immune from outsiders trouble
Blissfully detached, so unaware
without any single, worldly care
Permanent ecstatic, numb state
contented, equilibrious, sedate

Seemingly impossible, extreme
I can barely, realize in a dream
Perhaps zoned out, on cocaine
goofing off, to Nirvana’s Cobain
Serotonin’s, absolutely buzzing
my perfect lover, she’s stunning

Is this just being, self centered
never have to run, take shelter
Am I the only one, of this kind
perhaps, have a one track mind
Unable to think, beyond today
godless aberration, in disarray

Helping out others, feeling used
giving to charity, getting abused
Being judged, pretend neighbors
giving service, looking for favors
Lock me up, in a heavenly tomb
like it was, inside mothers womb

Good intentions, bring confusion
everyone wants, easiest solution
Do no bad or good, its the same
agnostic, but that’s just a name
Put all this together, and add up
joyous poem, or equally corrupt.

Inspired by, but not for, Unseen
seekers (joy continuum contest)
