Zombie Nation
I don't say this with indignation.
We find ourselves in a zombie nation.
Where people can't think for themselves.
Where people's thoughts put on a shelf.
The puppetmasters pull their strings.
Manipulating everything.
There is no need for separation.
Just a healthy need for conversation.
In times where you can't voice opinion.
There is no threat to cause division.
Divide and conquer was the plan.
Whilst acting like the tallyman.
So scared to go against the grain.
Through fear of using their own brain.
Through fear of being hung out to dry.
To voice opinion, with reasons why.
The ones that talk whilst being shutdown.
Whilst others just look on and frown.
It makes you feel you have no choice.
With those who feel they have no voice.
Through fear of social isolation.
With feelings of discrimination.
If you don't agree, there's no debate.
Whilst others try to just dictate.
Remember when we'd exchange views.
Without it ending on the news.
There's those that like to scream and shout.
With nonsense words which have no clout.
And then there's those that talk too much.
You know, the ones that just won't shush.
Hello, am I allowed to speak?
I'm sick of listening to you shriek!
If you'd like to listen, I'd like to say.
I take your point, I must convey!
But just because we don't agree.
I don't agree with you; you don't agree with me.
It does not mean we can't debate.
Find middle ground and still be mates.
So let’s rise up, let thoughts unwind.
To forge new paths, where we all can shine.
For in every thought, there lies foundation.
That is ready to bloom in this zombie nation.
