Author's Notes: "Zephyr's Magic," is a Heroic Couplet I originally wrote for my new book on February 15, 2015. It is set in Iambic Pentameter. With this poem I explore the wonder and associated magic of the "Zephyr" or the warm "West Wind" as it relates the mythology of the "Greek God Zephyr of the West Wind." Writing this poem, as the narrator, I take it upon myself verse-by-verse to speak of the gentleness, warmth, magic, and enchantment of Zephyr and his West Wind. The thematic takeaways from this poem are: (1) Zephyr being a Greek God is, of course, a magical and majestic figure; (2) As the God of the West Wind, his wind is gentle, caressing, warm, and yet, compelling being a force from a God; (3) As I develop the metaphor of Zephyr, I touch on his relational skills in magic and enchantment as evidenced by my mention of a dream of "love past my reach" or a "lost love" in effect; and (4) I conclude this couplet on the note that I've felt the warmth of the West Wind and the equal effect of Zephyr's magic and enchantment throughout the whole episode as depicted. There's lot of information here for consideration in this 14-verse Heroic Couplet. (Gary Bateman - May 6, 2015) (Heroic Couplet in Iambic Pentameter)
