Zenith of Design

Can a god build walls on the horizon
Hang chandeliers from zeniths above
Let the ocean drain into the nadir
Turn platitudes of doubt into love

Can a god look west, to watch sunrise
Go back in time, see humanity evolve
Walk barefoot across the suns corona
Make reason, meaningless to resolve

Can a god bring order to happenstance
See through charades of pantomime
Grow vaccines on earths magnetic field
With a mere thought, distinguish design

Can a god travel faster than light speed
Cross our galaxy, in the blink of an eye
Throw caution to the winds of tomorrow
Leave us dumbstruck for pondering why

Can a god see through endless darkness
Bring a smile to a heartbroken face
Take delusion, and banish it forever
Whisper in a dying ear, your soul is safe

Can a god truly answer all questions
Is it meaningless to pen poems of trial
If a god comforts through your prayers
Who am I, to cast doubt or denial

David, there is a quintessential depth to each question leaving the answer to your reader all summed up in the last line of the last stanza. This write so echoes the questions of Job. Wonderfully and thoughtfully done. Congratulations and high fives for your win! Cheers!

Thank you Sam, this one I’m particularly fond of, for one simple reason, here I am merely a man trying to imagine the abilities of a God, regardless of the seemingly miraculous technologies we possess today, I still feel we no little to nothing about the underlying reality of the universe, cheers David

- - Amazing stuff, David. Sorry to say this first, no comments on such a logical, beautiful, open minded poem so far is surprising. A prime egasample of your writing, appealing to every man. Well scripted, paced reasoning. Beginning of poem, horizons, chandelier, zenith, - sentiment vibrant and thought provoking. Yes, charades of pantomime, if anyone can see through our acts, it's God. I admire your breadth of view so kindly and cleverly expressed.

Thanks Sigrid, comments are a peculiarity here on the soup, so I simply expect the unexpected, delighted you enjoyed this one, was a great soul search, and to get a half decent poem made it even better, your analysis is exceptional as always Sigrid, you actually spot things I overlook myself while I’m writing, really have learnt so much from you, cheers David,
