Your Yesterday Can'T Bother You
YOUR YESTERDAY CAN’T BOTHER YOU
I lived a life of sin and shame that I could not control;
It seemed there was nowhere to run to help my sinsick soul.
But then a hand reached down to say, “I died to set you free,
And I can come to live in you and give you victory.
“Your yesterday can’t bother you when I am in control;
Just give to Me your life today and let Me save your soul.
My victory over death and hell can be yours now today;
Your yesterday can’t bother you for I’ll take it away!”
Sometimes today the memories of failures and of shame
Will make me ask myself again, “Will I the victory gain?
I seem so trapped within its grasp, I want its thorns withdrawn,”
Then Jesus comes to comfort me, says, “Child they all are gone!
“Your yesterday can’t bother you, for in the sea it’s cast,
As far as east is from the west, forgiven it’s at last.
When I look, I just see My blood you took to cleanse your soul;
Your yesterday can’t bother you; let Me be in control.”
Yes, Satan’s lies are strong, I know, but his doom now is sure;
He can’t have victory he wants, for I’m in Christ secure.
So now with tears and shouts of joy, I know that some glad day
I’ll walk on streets all made of gold and hear my Jesus say,
“Your yesterdays can’t bother you for now you’re safely home,
No more will you remember them, in them you’ll never roam.
My grace sufficient met your need, now you are here today;
Your yesterdays won’t bother you; you’re with Me now to stay!”
