Your Winter Grip

Winter’s snowy grip
has captured my soul;
chilling my being
and freezing my thoughts.
Upon the embers
of red and yellow, burning,
I still feel no warmth.
It is you that has placed me
within winter’s confine.
It is you that has chased away
the warmth
and, it is you, that will forever
have the power
to reignite the flame
that will warm my soul.
But, if you ever
attempt to use that power,
the ice of frozen lakes
will be sure to melt
and all the seasons
would forever change.
So, stay where you are
and keep your power
because I,
and the rest of the world
are better off.
