FIRST PLACE

Your Love Will Always Hold Me

                         Love for a thousand years,
            was our promise on our wedding day;
          I can still hear our song playing as we dance,
        you twirled and swirled me across the floor.
      We had so many plans and dreams for the future, 
    a home, a baby or two, a beautiful life together;
  but God had another plan written in your destiny,
                           one that did not include me.

                          My link to you is still strong,
            though, I find you, my love, down a path; 
          among the tombs, a name engraved in stone.
        The birds sing you a melody from morn,
      and a weeping tree protects your resting place;
    I come often love, in sun, rain, snow and wind,
  and I always will for our bond is forever and ever,
                          that is my pledge to you.

                         When I am old and gray,
            my steps will take me to your grave;
          with flowers and love still in my fading heart,
         for our love promised was for a thousand years.
       Wait for me at heaven's gate sweetheart please,
      magic will transform me from an old lady;
     to the lovely girl who danced with you on our day,
                           and we will dance in heaven . . . 
                                                                    evermore
