Your Lies
For so long you had me under your control
Me believing all those lies you told
There wasn't a time you didn't put me down
So every day I would wear a frown
How useless and worthless you made me feel
You seemed to do it with such zeal
Did you get your ego stroked
All those insecurities in me you invoked
Lower and lower I had sank
I had all of your lies to thank
I would always say he's not abusing me
For I have no bruises to be seen
That was another lie from you I learned
But your words my heart and mind did burn
Finally did realize what was true
The lies you told were really about you
I didn't know why I believed all your lies
After I had opened my eyes
I walked through the door and left you behind
A better life I did find
I took back my control
Let go of those lies you told
It took me a very long while
I finally relearned to smile
