Your Eyes

I’ll stare into your eyes
For as long as they’re alive
And even after losing life
I’ll stare at every captured memory of you
And even after all photography burns
I’ll think on what’s imbedded in my mind
And even after I lose my mind
I’ll reminisce on what’s carved in my heart
And even after they disassemble my body
I’ll run to what’s locked in my soul
And even after they conjure my soul
I’ll still find a way to melt into those hues
Because that’s how far I’d go for you
I’ll find every way

A haunting, heartfelt free-verse piece whose repeated “even after” structure beautifully expands devotion beyond memory, body, and soul. The escalating imagery gives the poem an almost timeless intensity, while the final return to “those hues” makes its love feel vividly personal.👀
