Young Whipper Snappers

Was self-employed for thirty-five years So when I finally called it quits No big party, no expensive gold watch No well wishers, no funny quips As I quietly sailed off into the sunset I heard this young fellow say “Another piece of deadwood we're rid of! Let's go, it's a brand new day” That's funny, I said the very same thing He's right, it's a brand new day No more stress no ridiculous deadlines Finally time for making hay Young whipper snappers have no idea Their time will come sure as rain “Another piece of deadwood we're rid of!” It'll be they who'll hear that refrain! © Jack Ellison 2013

They WILL experience the same thing you did someday, I'm sure of it! Your knowledge and experience far outweighs anything that those guys could ever muster! Your poem is exquisite my friend, I loved reading what you have come up with here, simply fantastic! What a delightful piece, Great Work!!

I guess it's just the right of passage these days... out with the old in with the new! The same loyalties don't exist anymore! Oh well, c'est la vie! Thanks again Russell!

The young can be so hateful and stupid some times... But nothing is sure except death and taxes... even for them... Why does our culture snidely throw their elders away?... Kinda sad... It definately show the youth's inexperience. Your friend.
