Does the motive--or the background--really matter?

Young John Cooney was no troubled lad, It mattered not that he had no dad; A loving home and family kept him glad, He seemed content with his lot, rarely sad. Young John Cooney was no troubled lad, Middle of the road was he; no extremist rad. Teachers couldn't remember him every getting mad; He'd never been sent to the office for being bad. His clothes were fashionable, if not the latest fad; His room 'typical teen-ager,' a pretty cool pad. True, he hadn't dated much; he was shy a tad; A few of the girls interviewed said he was a cad. Yes, Young John Cooney was no troubled lad, Til he fired the shot from which his best friend bled.

Congratulations on an interesting and topical piece. (i'm working on something where each line rhymes with the same word - you beat me to it!)

OMG! It's a monorrhyme, isn't it? I hadn't even realized. I was just trying to rhyme. (Seriously). I feel like those "modern artists" from the '60's who splashed paint on the canvas and let others figure out what they'd done...Kudos to YOU, Michelle!! :) gw

O I see! That last line was an eye-opener because I did not recognize the name evidently. Very punchy poem with the unexplainable ending. Great presentation, Gershon. Well done.

Thank you, as always...I'm gonna stay on this topic, I think, for a few days---although I may be silent for a day or two...very busy suddenly...I miss following your poems every day. I'll get back at it soon. Best wishes :) Gershon
