You Were Always There

I wouldn't think you need
to be told how much I care.
You've always known how much it meant
that you were always there.

You were there when I was hungry.
You were there when I was cold.
You were there when I was young,
and I'll be there as we grow old.

In a family full of turmoil.
With a heart so full of pain.
I always could take comfort
from a visit with Aunt Jane.

You've been the hand to guide me
when I looked for someone near.
I miss you since you've moved away.
To me, you are so dear.

I hope I can repay you
for the precious gift of love
you gave to me throughout my life.
For you, I thank God above.
