You V.S. the Sky

she looked at me
with questioning eyes
and asked me
why the sky is blue

i answered
"it's sad with envy,
jealous of the beauty
i see in you

it cannot paralyze me
it cannot move me
it can't break me
the way you do

and no matter the mix
of vivid colors
it can't replace you
as my muse

it mourns and weeps
o'er this landslide loss
in it's contest
against you

it knows from you
it can never steal my heart
and that's why the sky is blue."
