You Think My Words Are Ashes
You think my words are ashes crumbling all
to nothing under grasping hands, and sure
you wonder that the cracking, broken wall
around my heart is falling, making pure
my fleeting glances near you; wonder now
the things I touch and speak are never true,
and all I do is love you more and more,
I think the stars are like you, raging brews
the storm so near the breeze the ocean sends.
I seek, and simply give the scars you mend,
as water touches earth you stay my wife.
I need a bed and morning, not a ring
to know the song, you stay and stay my wing.
