You Stand Alone - Paz

“There is not
A single soul among the trees
 And I
 Don't know where I've gone.
                                  _by Octavio Paz

Alone, you stand now midst these trees,
their limbs held up toward the sky
          as soulless creatures reaching for
a reason why they grow so tall.
No answer back- they live and die.

But here you stand, unlike the trees,
though rootless now, your soul's alive!
You lost your way to find your place.
From Winter darkness hope is born!
Now pray to God your soul finds Spring.
