You Simply Threw It Away

In the depths of winter's cold, your smile felt like a warm breeze. And wooing me with finesse, you captured my heart with ease. I thought that you were somehow different from most I knew. And I believed you loved me, for I fell in love with you. You were the source of my strength, the rock upon which I clung. But, like a granite idol's stone heart, the truth was far-flung. You concocted silly stories each time you wanted to stray. And stripping love of value, you simply threw it away. Your lies hammered at my heart breaking it into pieces. And I no longer believe, love irons out the creases. (Quatrain) 9/4/2015

Great poem about love that's untrue. Stings but the sooner that's out of your life the better. Well done, Emile.
