You Simply Don'T Know
You simply don't know what a boy will do;
This surely can't be a surprise to you.
Few things, less certain in this world, you know:
Going back and forth, all that to and fro.
You have to admit what I say is true.
It's like they blank their brains each day anew.
All you thought you'd taught them just up and flew.
When you look, you can't find them high or low.
You simply don't know…
What God had in mind, I don't have a clue;
Teaching you patience, probably in view.
Boys just have two speeds: too fast, real slow.
Just when you think you've got it figured, whoa!
It's a bafflement, I am telling you:
You simply don't know!
