You Painted the World Around Me

I used to live life with a void filled with endless grays, Trapped inside the colorless vision in a never-ending maze, And to me it seemed like it would be like this always, But then upon my eyes your gaze fills my sight with haze. I swear when our eyes locked keys I could see a crystal sea, And the spots that lay upon your face I swear I saw thirty, From the swirl of your hair to your rosy cherry blossom cheeks, You unlock the paint into my world that soon sets me free. With my world as your canvas I soon learn that everywhere you look, You give me blues and greens in every corner and every little nook, And on and on you add the loving details that some may overlook, But not me for I notice everything you took. Your laughter painted the sun and your eyes created the stars, Your hands always dancing never stop making repairs, You show me the world a long list you share, But the world you create is unique and only ours. From a spec of dirt to the milky way you created me the world from your hands, When you painted the sky blue I knew I’d want you for lifespans, I hope you continue to color me anew don’t be ticking time sands, For now I simply hold on tight to your paintbrushes’ strands.
