You, On the Phone

On the phone, yesterday, I called you;
you didn’t know it was me. "Hello”…
you sounded happy…as if this might be
someone you wanted to talk to,
perhaps family or friend. But it was
just me… I listened to your sultry voice
then hung up. Saddened that you could
be happy without me, I swallowed.
There it was…better this way
than the alternative. Now, your last word
to me is hello instead of its opposite…
leaves the possibility to start again.

Sad to see a lovely relationship coming to an end, but I look at it this way, that the hello, could also mean , possibly a new beginning? There is always Hope

Thanks Maria for visiting my humble little show. That was 3 years ago now but the feeling still lingers and yes, hope; like first light, it is elusive and temporal.

This kind of makes me want to cry because I understand too well that feeling, when something ends that was so beautiful and the other person doesn't seem to be affected. I also love how you used the "hello" at the end as a possibility of a new beginning. VERY awesome and well done, a pleasure to read you :) and I will be back. Hugs

This is an interesting story, described with feelings written in the heart of a poet’s imagination. The words are simplicity themselves but in context they speak volumes on the mind frame, hopes, admissions and future of the author. Emile. #7
