[A basic Ballade is a form of French lyric poetry that has 14 lines and is split into four stanzas using the following format: aabR aabR aabR bR.]

I am breathless thinking of your sighs, Your sweet whispers with twinkling eyes No way your smile I could ever forget, That special day when first we met. You left me breathless hearing you say That we were meant to meet that day, Then, darling, I knew I would never regret That special day when first we met. Breathless reliving the golden years-- Yes, reliving the laughter and the tears The first words you spoke I’ll never forget That special day when first we met. Not in a million years could I ever forget That special day when first we met.

The most poignant (because a mature love is so much richer): Breathless reliving the golden years-- Yes, reliving the laughter and the tears//Congratulations, Milton!

Thanks so much, Kim. I am back home and will soon be up to speed. Thanks so much for your concern and your note. I have been on a two-week tour of the southern U.S. visiting family and friends. I did sign into PS a few times, but I don't enjoy doing so with my cell phone. I am home, as of an hour ago, and you will begin to see me posting poems, commenting, and responding to comments right away. Again, thanks for your concern. Your Kentucky Friend, Milt

I’m fine, Marilene. I’ve been on a road trip throughout the southern US without my computer! Will be home this week and renew my PS activity. Thanks so much for inquiring.

Well, I’ve made a feeble attempt at the PS defined conventional form. I found it a bit challenging

Please do, Unseeking Seeker. I don't see enough of them. But, keep in mind, the ballade can take many, many forms...long and short...I prefer the basic form, which I employed here. I'm waiting!!!

Aw, thanks, Caren. I found it fairly easy to write, once I figured it out. This is a short, basic ballade, but there are many variations. Somewhat like a Rondel, I think.
