You Have No Chains

Acidic words
Slice through me
Invisible knives twist inside
Torturing each nerve within
Mouth drained dry
Too shocked to speak
Waves of sadness roll down my cheeks
From eyes once loved by yours

Why so much anger?
I did nothing but give
Your feelings now lost
Another love you have found
To hate me is easier
I understand

But why be so spiteful?
Do I deserve such loathing?
Your misplaced anger
Bellowing insults
I find impossible to ignore
As I grieve for what we once were

You have no chains
You are free to go
Be brave
Find some courage
Admit your deception as I accept defeat
And leave
I am no longer here
