You Fell Asleep

You fell asleep,
You slowly closed your eyes,
I knew you soon would be,
With the Angels in the skies.
You fell asleep,
You could no longer bear the pain,
I will hold you in my heart,
Where your memories will remain.
You fell asleep,
You breathed your last breath,
I knew you were at peace,
You'd given in to death.
You fell asleep,
You didn't say goodbye,
I held you in my arms,
As I began to cry.
You fell asleep,
You will be forever missed,
I whispered my goodbye to you,
As your cheek I kissed.

Hi Darlene. Please accept my apologies, if I upset you, it wasn't my intention. I wrote this a long time after losing my Grandfather. I couldn't bring myself to write one for him shortly after his death, I struggled with the grief, I wasn't there when he passed away. I said my goodbyes 5 days before he died, I couldn't stand by and watch him slip away. This was how it should have been.
