You Bet

Oh, I love to love,
But I won't bet
my heart on it;

Marriage is marvelous,
But I won't bet
my tranquility on it;

I woo wealth,
But I won't bet
my emancipation on it;

I'll pander the Politician,
But I won't bet
my vote on it;

I'll dare to dream,
But I won't bet
my hopes on it;

I'll revere religion,
But I won't bet
my faith on it;

I'll confess my sins,
But I won't bet
my salvation on it;

I prefer paradise,
But I won't bet
my life on it;

I'll gamble on God,
But I won't bet
my soul on it!
