You Are Now Eighty

To my dad You are now eighty Years and years on your adored face Beauty still there your wrinkles trying to shade I am in your company relishing my blessings Your hearty wise words fill up my senses You are now eighty Eyes suffused with bliss and gratification A heart praying to God in conviction I am in your company ravished with glee Your warm loving voice holy words reciting You are now eighty Serenity and peace in your soul dwelling Delight inward sparkling As parts of you fluttering around I am thrilled hearing from you a sound You would have been eighty Years and years of gloom As light ceased to be in my room The pain still inside Tears piercing my eyes Memories tearing me apart Yearning burning my heart Over your loss daddy I couldn’t heal Poems for you I write To myself cheer Merciful God My lament please forgive In my world dad no longer is In your heaven dad longed to live In my words all the love, all the longing To my dad I will always give.
