Yesteryear Memories
I ride the backroads of my mind now and then
Where yesteryear lies dormant from way back when.
I stay in the shade where details aren't so bright,
Some are best seen in the middle of the night.
But then again there's always a chosen few
Back there when I was young, the world was brand new,
And I was eager for the next tomorrow -
That was before I learned of pain and sorrow.
So my ride is always a jumbled affair -
Sometimes I reach the blue-eyed blonde and stop there.
As I recall it never did get better
Than that cold night I wrapped her in my sweater.
I ride the backroads of my mind now and then
It's always my pleasure to visit way back when.
