Yesterday's Windows

today i feel so far away
from the places i have loved
the faces i remember are so strange today
and none know that they are loved

today i am distant from their eyes
and i wish to return
but the fires are all dying down
and my heart can not return

I miss those windows into the past
i long for the friendships i have had
but now they are but distant shadowing
of a love i wish i had

tomorrow their memories may fade
leaving an empty shell
i love each and every face
that resides on the outside of this shell
