Yesterdays News

Contracting iris, I split my eyes
Pouring forth gold from a can opened sky
Globular syrup thickens the glue
Canopy black turns to canopy blue
Erasing the stars and so tragically you

Conducting the birds in an orchestral play
Rolls out red carpet that heralds the day
Baptising the sun, offsetting the gun

A kiss breathes my cheek ...
Her promisory gust goes to ruffle the leaves
In mischievous dance a dry leaf she twirls
Invites to forget and does a pirouette
My poetry pages she turns to ballet

Good morning miss... dismissive girl.. I say...
Grabs the news from my feet
Blows me away - three of us chase down the street

I knew what the poem was about, of course, thanks to the Poet's Notes, Jannie. Lol! Great imagery ... the metaphors, the descriptive prose, it all works, it's all good. Masterfully crafted poem. Your unique style of writing is so enjoyable. Ty for sharing your voice w/us. Love and peace to you.

Let me guess....a love one passed and your broken darkened heart had given up. Until a younger miss catches your eye. Blows you away in fact until you skip like a young thing yourself down the street.

I find your imagery absolutely fascinating Jannie I too am a little confused of the actual meaning of the poem. I adore the lines about dawn breaking those first two stanzas are breath taking but the meaning of ending threw me a little BUT like CayCay I LOVE it:-) hugs Jan x7

How's this for honest - I have no idea what your poem is about and yet I completely love each stanzas word delivery! My cognitive skills ARE impaired - sometimes I don't get poems, but man oh man does your word order and imagery excite the poet in me - just spectacular, Jannie. I'm laughing that I love a poem I don't understand! Laugh with me?? And I'm truly infatuated with your descriptions! CayCay

Intriguing Jannie, could be about Autumn zephyrs, poetry's promise or that girl that turned your head. Or all of the above. :) Whichever it is, enjoyable read, love the pirouette.

To get word from Paloma is like a visit from the queen. Confusing YOU is something that I never thought I could do. Those zephyrs and words that you dig out of Egyptian hyrogliphs leave me mizmuzzled
