Yesterday Is Gone

Yesterday is gone
Never to return, words said
Never to undo, deed fed
When err, in comes stress
Tossing in the sheets
The ghost of regret invades
The cold of distress assails
The spirit is maimed.

The day may be gone
But its impression remains
And sleep at night is not gained
Altered was the day.
A soul is in pain
Twisted by a sudden jolt
Denied was their grain of salt
But what have you gained?

Can't forget the eyes
Mirrors of a soul in strain
The shock, unprepared for pain
Caused by your device
Tomorrow a chance
To kill the madness, undo
To clear the sadness and bloom
Eyes a twinkle in the glance.

Enjoyed reading your Choka today, Caroline! It is always good to look forward and to keep only good memories..Thank you for your kind comment on "Screwpine". I actually got my pencil-drawing on facebook album wwhich corresponds to that Haiku. It shows a beach part of Efate Island, Vanuatu, which is called "White Sands" due to the coral-colour. Other beaches are mainly dark and of volcanic origin. Have a great week...Alles Gute, Gert

Your message carries a special meaning for me on this sleepless night, Caroline. Let's look for brighter days in the future and try to be more prepared for the pain. Love, Carolyn
