Yesterday I Dreamed of You
My love, yesterday morn I awoke,
To whispers lingering that you spoke,
In a relaxed and happy dream,
Your soft voice and eyes agleam.
At a party therein we’d met by chance,
Once joined, neither spared another a second glance.
After so long apart,
Surprising to find you still within my heart.
The calm joy we both felt,
There was no resistance to melt.
Lingering hugs so satisfying,
Finishing each other’s sentences without trying.
Our old closeness suddenly there,
Vanished in morning’s wakeful glare.
When dancing later that night,
Your ghostly spirit,
A poignant, exquisite visit!
Missing you,
Hoping my dream wasn’t another adieu.
Yet wish your upcoming birthday,
Finds you at play.
