Yesterday Clear

It was yesterday when it all came together
Where the play on words and the slap in the face came together, and became something ugly
Then something beautiful.
It was a scary yesterday that I saw the truth and the lie and the reasons all at once
Then I dreamed again.
Then I saw them crappy dreams and got all scared
They were there and I knew but couldn’t be too sure
Yesterday my coffee was divine.
I was honked at and alone
I was in the road
No one was home, then suddenly the phone rang
And my hands were cold
And I wasn’t alone
And I wasn’t at home
And he writes
And she rubs
And we chat and become a new face in the crowd
Am I making this clear to you?

When someone reaches out in friendship and love, it can turn our attitudes around completely. Yes, this is quite clear and an insightful reflection on the power of friendship. Welcome to Poetry Soup, Jess! I look forward to reading more of your work. Best wishes, Carolyn
