Yesterday - 2nd Place

Yesterday when I was foolish
I was hard-headed and at times boorish
I played the games that I could not win
Just to cause my world to spin

I walked the paths of pitfalls and thorns
I walked on embers and I grew some horns
I challenged the might of faith
On tawny trails, I dared my fate

I looked at love like trophy and token
I gathered some hearts and left them broken
I dared not to know bronze from gold
For, in my own wisdom I used to hold

I never cared for what I lost
Until my past chased me like a ghost
I wish I could forget the ghosts of yesterday
So to the heavens up above, I pray
