Yesterday
While dreaming of tomorrow
We were living for that day
How quickly all these memories,
Through time, will fade away
"Worry" was just another word
We heard our parents use
We had no big decisions,
No choices, we had to choose
We still believed in Santa Claus
And even the Easter bunny
Back when tv was still free
And cartoons were still funny
Our kingdom was our treehouse
We'd pretend we were a king
With a good imagination
We could be most anything
We'd always count our blessings
Like Mama told us to
Giving thanks to God each day
For the things He brought us through
Growing up was easy
Tho, we often thought it hard
The safest place we've ever known
Was in our own backyard
Ain't it funny how things change
When tomorrow becomes today?
I hope our kids can know these joys
Their very own yesterdays
