Yemeni Hineni Hymn

Yemeni Hineni Hymn Abraham responded to God ‘Hineni’ ‘Here I am at your service and ready For the ultimate sacrifice’ Yemeni children have few words for invocation Bombed strafed and starved in the name of United Nations’ Masters Tim has seen the pictures on the news The biggest famine for one hundred years As bad as Auschwitz and Belsen Ghosts’ shrunken faces on oedematous bellies Eating boiled leaves if there are any left Who puts whom on the altar Saudi Princes launch war and the weapons are Sold by the UK and the US in business as usual It must the fault of Iran Or anyone else’s in apparent delusion Out in the open transparency at its best Paper thin trans luminous skin Skeletons can merely object in silence Voices devoid of volume are crying out loud Victims praying to another saviour Yet one more food relief blocked at the border ‘They must be hailing the wrong deity’ Yemeni Hineni alliterated Littering all conscience buried in the sand Grinding to a halt and soon it will be all over Lost on the spread sheet of politics Ashraf and Hana will forget when they’re dead…

This is strongly worded and points fingers at those who contribute to the hardships of many. Politicians, corrupt barons and greed pull the strings...victims suffer. ~ Regards // paul

Thank you Paul. I feel helpless and my writing is no consolation for the victims. I want to write about happy things, but what I see around me is evil and greed. Maybe today I will write on a more positive note...Kai

Well written Kai, profit from weapons, UK and US should bow their heads in shame. Tom.

It is the duty of poets to show the injustices of the world. This is a very important poem. Be brave. Good job.

Thank you Robert. I really appreciate this. As many of us I probably feel not to do enough and rather than becoming cynical and bitter I write...Thank you again, Kai
