Year's End

The last days
cling to the year
like late leaves
to the oak trees.

Every song
is a goodbye.

Time’s tired steps
echo hollow
in the deserted birds nests.

I especially love the first stanza with the leaf clinging on to the oak tree - we can do nothing to halt the passage of time. Beautiful but melancholy imagery. Agnes I'm adding this little gem into my faves:-) hugs jan xx

Such a great imagery in your last days of the year poem, Agnes. I can feel the sad surrender...'time's tired steps'...'deserted birds nests'...powerful. Congratulations on your podium placement on this short list of winners.
