Yearning To Rise

Tiny heart, world inside
Waiting for a hand to guide
I'm a seed, life's whisper
Promise of a thousand branches
Canopy reaching for the sky

ROOTS! Plunging deep
Earth's embrace, sustenance I seek
Mighty trunk, strong and proud
Touch the clouds, defy time's shroud

I YEARN TO RISE!
Reach for the sun!
Stand tall, testify
Life's grace is never undone

But wait-

Cold hand clutches
Potential stifled
Captive to unkind fate
No warmth
No nurture
No breath of life

Only darkness
Crushing weight
Forever denied my right

This is my story
Unfulfilled potential
Silent scream of what could've been

Echo of a dream... that never grew
