Year Two

What happened on His second birthday?
Where were the shepards and the Magi?
Did they remember or did they care …

Did ox and ass sense
the time when he was cradled
among them returned?

Two thousand years have passed
And we talk about it but
do we remember Him
or them for the true purpose

the gift we buy is forgotten a week, a month, or a year later
or a gift we got, forgot a week, a month, or a year
later.

Did the gift come that
morning or thirty-three years later?
what about year two,
three, ten, twenty, or 2011?

When did we receive the most precious
gift of all, and what was it?
Salvation; that’s all, for the ages
That's all we needed
