Written In the Heart
Late at night
When all is quiet
When children have gone to sleep
And dream fun dreams,
I sit at my table
To write fables
Where freely the heart dances
Upon songs of no pretenses
To let it express its life
At times beating so wild
Ready to burst in delight
Feeling within its rhyme
The love that has waltzed in
Looking for a place to settle in
Other times beating morose
As it travels the valley of sorrow
But the tears cleanse its very soul
And it rises again
To find what is sane
Grounded in faith
Allowing hope to resurface
Receiving inspiration and valor
Upon flowery meadow splendor
As it reaches the heights
of mountain peaks where it finds
A closer encounter with the divine.
