Writing Woes

The words crept into the mind
Slowly drifting, as effortless as the clouds.
Visions danced, held hands and mingled,
 imagination, ran high.
Thoughts running wildly free, irrational,
 dancing, creating an imagery wonderland.
Words become thoughts,
thoughts became sentences.
Sentences became forms,
as the poem formed the mind raced.
Writing each thought before it vanished
Catching it, in case it flees.
Sometimes the chase is easy, poem fulfilled
Sometimes the hunt eludes ,answers evade
Needing to fulfill that write,
blank pages staring you in the face
Pieces of paper, words on a page
Waiting to be finished, waiting to be heard.
Some will get published, others put on a shelf.
Some will be read, others only hid
So let the visions hold hands, let them dance
 floating effortlessly, flowing free.

This is just how poetry is created. It starts with blank pages and a mind filled with creative thoughts. How wonderfully you describe it here. Excellent poem! Love, Carolyn

yes we all write in different ways. I sometimes come up with the title of the poem first, then go from there, unless i am writing about a person. this was a great piece Phyllis and enjoyed it.

Phyll, you've captured the inner workings of the mind of poets. Well-written with a perfect flow. Very lovely..sometimes it flows effortlessly and sometimes, not. So very true! Love, Annalise

You describe the trials and tribulations of the poet and the writing process, vividly and accurately! I'm sure that many writers will be able to identify with this!
