Writing

Writing

Our first meet and I held my tender pen,
Paper in the other hand ever since then,
School magazines, college journals and small stage,
Poetry became an addiction with growing age,

Writing my true emotions in words sublime,
Ink became deeper in colour with time,
Was in hiding till discovered a poetry forum,
Not to behave wild and follow decorum,

Skills sharpened by grinding at the soup,
Positive feedback by a magnificent group,
Vibrant contests strike the chords to ponder,
Comments and wishes evanesce my somber,

Profession is for a living but writing a passion,
Ideas turn to words, a pen's compassion,
Writing is purely to gratify the insatiable soul,
Achievements in literary world is not a mere goal !

You write so very well my friend! The honesty in writes shine a light for others to follow. The rhythm, rhyme and heart in each writes reveal dedication, spirit, love and honor. Four qualities every good poet has.

Dear Dr. Upma, Writing actually was my profession since age 18, but poetry releases more passion. We do become addicted. Even in bed at night silly limericks fill my head. Indeed, grinding at the Soup can definitely hone our skills. I would only take issue with the environment here. There are a couple sly foxes who take joy in making others cry. As you suggested, I'm trying to forge ahead in spite of that. Wishing you success in the contest! Love, Carolyn
