Writing

When writing poetry
I break the rules
It's not that I can't find them
For I'm no fool

Sometimes the problem
Is what works doesn't fit
Sometimes it just doesn't make any sense
Words are available on the internet
Going through the lists I can get really upset

When posting a poem on poetry soup
Sometimes it blows my mind
For I will have it perfect with many rhymes
But then it disappears into a computer
Grave yard, somewhere out in cyber space
Floating, floating trying to fine My Space

When going to LuLu Poetry.com
The lines can't be to long
Can't have those wrap arounds
Because they mess up their form
Then when you get to end
If its over 24 lines long
It will tell you not accepted
Remove some of those words
It is more than you expected

lulu poetry. i post a couple when it was just poetry.com. i think twenty some. i got e-mails and letters saying buy this awarded. but doesn't an awarded come with a prize not the other way around. and to buy books with my poetry in them. even if only have the people by a book they make hundreds of thousands of dollars. and they only give back like 50 thousand back to the source. total scam. that why i like it here. no money scams.

Good write, just write from your heart, it works for me? Thanks for the comment on "Goldie the Goldfish..My little girl is now 26, I have not seen in over 20 year..she is a victim of a satanic cult, I am still trying to get her out? A tough thing, but anything is possible though God..Danny

the site you just mintioned was my starting stone. from them i learned brevity, a very good lesson for a poet to learn. and have at least 8 editors choice awards and one beautiful crystal award with a name and a title which they insisted that i come to the convention and get. i thought if i was that goo they should send for me. i'm still there. but the soup offers so much more. jhl

Bravo. :) And this is why I write my own thing. Expression is from within, regardless of how many lines and of what form, create your words and post from the soul, fellow poets and writers know... Rules don't, always fit in.

Poets should never feel confined by rules, Sarah! And it's awful when computers eat our poems and spit them "somewhere out in cyberspace." Sounds like "LuLu" is a bit confining in what they allow you to post. This is really the best site. Not only are you free to write as you choose (unless it's novel-length), but you also find the warmest, most wonderful people here. Love this poem! Carolyn
