Write Me One of Those
Write me one of those
you know
those poemy things
with rhymy lines
like birds with wings
like croaking frogs
in deep bass sings
string together
windless words
attack the castle
using plastic swords
tip-toe over life’s
creaking boards
sugar coat
appease the needs
of metered hoards
leaning away
but never towards
the axe that cut
the flaming cord
to sooth
forever’s embered fire
its all consuming
muse fueled pyre
condemned to torch
each vacant page
with words of love
encased in rage
