A wrinkled brow adorned his face
His whistle revealed his character's grace
As he walked behind an old worn mule
In the humid heat of that home rule
Memories now surface, why?
Childhood faded, gone, but I descry

Gershon, I am sure that my father and many men in the south a couple of generations ago suffered in the hot months plowing out a garden. If I remember correctly though, daddy would lay things by at some point. Then he did not have to plow again that season. I know it was hot out there and it was not fun facing the backside of a mule for hours or all day. Thanks for the visit to my page. Your presence is always appreciated. Sara

Victor, I can remember my father plowing that mule. We did not have a very large garden, so it wasn't a big hardship on him but not easy either. As a child he worked in the field to help grow cash crops plus plant and cultivate a family garden. It wasn't an easy life, but he seemed to take it in stride. Thanks for your visit. Sara

Tom, Yes, time does go by fast but at times it seems to have been very long. I have always been the kind that lived mostly in the moment which in some ways is good. Thanks for the Christmas wishes. I appreciate the time spent here. Sara
