Wrath

happiness is in this direction
he replied going south
but we've been there and the smiles are gone
fading from each mouth
what was beauty time has devoured
we no longer have the placidity of youth
evil events have annihilated grace
of sleepy afternoons and feather pillows
when the future didn't sound like a threat
you see the heap of difficulties
that spread an endless plague
my friend I'm sorry to tell you
but the two-way streets
gradually turned into dead ends
and we have this thorny path
now that it's almost april
and in our heart there is only wrath

I find so much that is contemporary imagery in this poem. Fine metaphoric story into which I can read so many recent events that have stolen happiness in the south. This is fine, precise writing, Marco.

Thanks, Milton. It's hard to find happiness in this world, as you know...
