"The wound is the place where light enters you."

  Quote by_  Rumi

Wounds

During my life I have collected wounds,
    leaving scars on my soul;
        that will never heal,
        will always be with me.
I like to think of them as beautiful,
        for they are reminders of survival;
        and of my courage and strength.

Sometimes, when I am hurt- I remind myself,
    that I am stronger than I think;
        oh, what is another wound,
        will learn the lesson.
Then, throw away the pain endured,
        and stand tall like a mighty tree;
        in a storm, unbroken.

Your poem reaches out to all those who need to find a source of strength. The metaphor of the tree being strong is a beautiful picture.
