Wounded Warrior's

They were young...so very strong...
Off to war, for which some longed!
They didn't know, what they would see..
They'd be fighting memorie's...
Wanting only...to be free!
So often alone, on cold, dark night's,
Re-living the horror...Re-living the fight's!
While those at home, who wait for their men...
Not really knowing...
Those whom they loved, could never be as before, again!
They finally return...,
Only wanting to hide...,
From terror they've known...,
From wound's...deep inside!
In trying to cope...some turn to dope...
Many more will lose, by turning to booze!
In reaching a bottom, some look to above...,
By turning to other's, sharing real love!
Healing may come, as they work through their pain..,
By lancing their wound's...
A new life they gain!
America...be caring...for all those YOU sent...,
Show us...Compassion...,
For YOU...we went!

Thnx for the kind words, a little about me,,,I am a 62 yr old Veteran, experienced a horrible event in 1974 aboard the ship I was stationed on, led a pretty rough life for many years afterwards, began to write in 1978, have worked on writing off and on since.I am dealing with PTSD, a lot of my writing is a reflection of that...also, a lot comes from years of homelessness, drug and alchohol addiction, been there, done that.I am now in recovery, wanting to bless, possibly influence others.
