Wouldst I Become, Last Gasp of Dying Star

Wouldst I Become, Last Gasp Of Dying Star Wouldst I become, last gasp of dying star brighter glow in Heaven's majestic sky existing as hope's promise from afar gifting inspiration before I die. Wouldst I become, pure as sweet love affirms a soft flame, warmth to soothe a hurting soul true warrior to defeat world's evil terms an illumination to sacred scroll. Wouldst I become, saving grace to my love waiting shelter in times of sad despair golden rays of tenderness from above alleviating woes too hard to bear. Wouldst I become light to life's dark defeat. Lover, your destiny sets you to meet. R.J. Lindley, 4-25- 1979 Sonnet, ( From Starlit Sky, A Magnificent Dream Was Born )

This is from 79? If so, impressive considering how much younger you were and you were writing on that level then. I certainly was not on that level when I was the same age.

Thank you my great friend. I was 25 years old then. And had just recently went through a heartbreaking divorce. One that almost destroyed me. Much of that immensity of one of life's tragic experiences had forced me to think and ponder life as a never before. To write of how I hoped I could become a better a better person, a stronger and kinder soul and one deserving of finding a true and lasting love. God bless...

Hi Robert. I'm partial to sonnets written in the olde' world style, and your third verse is my favorite.

Thank you my friend... continued- ... " Unhappy crowds cry out to you in prayers. Flow, Time, and set them free. Run through their days and through their ravening cares! But leave the happy be. In vain I pray the hours to linger on And Time slips into flight. I tell this night: "Be slower!" and the dawn Undoes the raveled night. Let's love, then! Love, and feel while feel we can The moment on its run. There is no shore of Time, no port of Man. It flows, and we go on. Covetous Time! Our mighty drunken moments When love pours forth huge floods of happiness; Can it be true that they depart no faster Than days of wretchedness? Why can we not keep some trace at the least? Gone wholly? Lost forever in the black? Will Time that gave them, Time that now elides them Never once bring them back? Eternity, naught, past, dark gulfs: what do You do with days of ours which you devour? Speak! Shall you not bring back those things sublime? Return the raptured hour?"

"Pause in your trek O Time! Pause in your flight, Favorable hours, and stay! Let us enjoy the transient delight That fills our fairest day.".... "Let's love, then! Love, and feel while feel we can The moment on its run. There is no shore of Time, no port of Man. It flows, and we go on" ...
