Wordsmith

"A PAUSE LONG ENOUGH"

...'That you might momentarily glimpse in my direction'...

Is it so unusual that we should want some recognition,
Or is it that we write for our own cognition?

Although our words may truly stand tall
Perhaps they are the least recognized of all.

True, we want our words in each poetic event
To be worthy, read, and swell our breast with compliment.

By your test you have opened a door
That has made me want to glimpse a little more.

I see a theme in the things you say
Quiet, resolved, some longing in a way...

Now I have been grasped by the quiet words you write
That each time I read them they will pull me tight.

For you, my friend, have a gifted soul
A depth and quality to make words whole.

Who are you in this writer's world so rough?
A WORDSMITH...whose work I have not paused to read nearly enough.

As a writer, the first stanza sure resonates with me, something all writers must surely contemplate. Dropping in to offer my congratulations on your well-deserved 2nd place win ... never stop writing ... CayCay

Yes, we don't necessarily think about it, but that quandry is always there...like a nagging itch we can't seem to scratch. I'm glad it was meaningful to you.
